Description

Formula AL removes Damp toxins from the Meridian, clears the Blood Stasis that blocks the Meridian, and nurtures the Ying and Yang. It supports upper motor neuron repair in the brain. Formula AS nurtures Qi, Blood, and Essence of the Meridian and supports lower motor neuron repair in the spinal cord and brain stem. Formula AB expels Wind and Phlegm from the Meridian and supports the repairman of lower motor neurons that innervate and control the muscle on the face, head, neck and throat.

1. Motor Neurons

Motor neurons comprise various tightly controlled, complex circuits throughout the body that allow for both voluntary and involuntary movements. The upper and lower motor neurons (UMNs and LMNs) together form a two-neuron circuit that is responsible for movement. The upper motor neurons originate in the cerebral cortex and travel down to the brain stem and spinal cord, while the lower motor neurons begin in the spinal cord and brain stem to innervate muscles and glands throughout the body. The upper motor neuron and lower motor neurons are two different types of neurons and utilize different neurotransmitters to relay their signals. Upper motor neurons use glutamate, while lower motor neurons use acetylcholine.

To perform a movement, a signal must begin in the primary motor cortex of the brain. The upper motor neuron is responsible for integrating the excitatory and inhibitory signals from the cerebral cortex and translate it into a signal that will initiate or inhibit voluntary movement. The axons of the upper motor neuron travel through the midbrain down to the brain stem and spinal cord on the lateral corticospinal tract which will synapse directly onto the lower motor neuron. The lower motor neuron is responsible for transmitting the signal from the upper motor neuron to the effector muscle to perform a movement.

2. Lower Motor Neurons
There are a few broad types of lower motor neurons: branchial motor neurons, Bulbar motor neurons, somatic motor neurons, and visceral motor neurons. Branchial motor neurons in the brainstem form the cranial nerve nuclei and innervate the muscles of the head and neck. Bulbar motor neurons in the brain stem innervate the muscles in the face, throat, and tongue. Bulbar motor neurons control the muscles used for speaking, swallowing, and chewing. Damage to these neurons can cause respiratory complications, difficulty speaking, swallowing, chewing, and coughing, as seen in progressive bulbar palsy (PBP). Somatic motor neurons also in the brain stem are responsible for innervating skeletal muscle and control body movement. Visceral motor neurons, located in the spinal cord, contribute to both the sympathetic and parasympathetic functions of the autonomic nervous system, and directly involved in the contractions of the heart, the muscles of the arteries, and other viscera that are not consciously controlled.

3. Motor Neuron Injuries
Many conditions can lead to motor neuron damages including physical injuries, viral or other types of infections, stroke, Parkinson’s, and Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). When the upper motor neurons are injured, patients will experience symptoms of muscle weakness, muscle wasting, and loss of control. When the lower motor neurons are injured, patients will experience symptoms of muscle tightness, decreased sensation and body pain.

Formula AL supports upper motor neuron repair in the brain. Formula AS supports lower motor neuron repair in the brain stem and spinal cord. Formula AB supports lower neuron repair including the branchial motor neurons and bulbar motor neurons that innervate and control the muscle on the face, head, neck and throat.

Formula A is also recommended to nurture the stem cell line in the bone marrow to support motor neuron repair. Sanguin is recommended to nurture bone marrow to enhance blood cell production. Brown, LC Balancer and Xcel are also recommended to support the liver and kidneys for toxin processing and secretion. Xcel Plus is recommended for the secretion of large molecular weight waste molecules. Patients with motor neuron damage in mild or moderate conditions can experience symptom improvement in 2 weeks. 3-6 months is required for significant improvement.

For patients with severe condition such as ALS, additional formulas may also be required including Qi Booster and Qi Booster Plus to improve breathing and enhance immunity, Ginkgo and Ginkgo Plus to support nerve damage repair ATP+ support mitochondrial function for enhanced ATP production, Telomere+ to support DNA repairment. If patients have reduced heart ejection fractions, Toga is also recommended to enhance the heart output. If patients have balance issues, Bella is recommended to nurture the cerebellum. ALS Patch or ALS Cream is recommended to be applied to the upper neck below the skull. WHITEE Patch is recommended to be applied to the throat area. Patients can experience symptom improvement in 2 weeks. 3-6 months is required for significant improvement and 9-12 months protocol at reduced dose may be required.
