Difficin helps remove damp heat from the intestines. It helps clear bacterial infections caused by Clostridioides difficile (C. diff) in the intestines. Difficin also helps nurture the Yin and clear the blood stasis in the intestines to help repair intestinal damage. Probiosis, WhiteHead, and Luna are also required to help reduce intestinal inflammation and clear coinfections caused by other types of bacteria and fungus.
1) C. diff Infections Clostridioides difficile is a bacterium that causes an infection of the large intestine. The bacterium is often referred to as C. difficile or C. diff. Infection by C. diff typically occurs after use of antibiotic medications. Some people carry C. difficile bacteria in their intestines but never become sick. These individuals are carriers of the bacteria and may spread infections.
Symptoms include diarrhea and abdominal cramping in mild and moderate cases. C. diff can cause the colon to become inflamed and form patches of raw tissue that can bleed or produce pus. When the infection becomes severe, patients can experience symptoms of severe diarrhea 10 to 15 times a day, severe abdominal cramping and pain, nausea, stomach upset, loss of appetite, abdominal swelling, blood or pus in the stool and weight loss. Signs and symptoms usually develop within 5 to 10 days after starting a course of antibiotics. However, they may occur as soon as the first day or up to three months later.
2) Toxic Megacolon and Sepsis C. diff infection can also cause intestinal inflammation leading to enlargement of the colon (also called toxic megacolon) when the deeper layers of the colon including the muscles becoming inflamed and the structural integrity of the colon begins to break down. Deep inflammation disables the muscles in the colon wall causing inability to contract and move substances through. Food and gas will build up in the colon while the walls weaken, stretch, and dilate. Ultimately, toxic substances may leak through the thinning walls into the bloodstream causing systemic toxicity. The infection can also lead to sepsis which is a life-threatening condition with an extreme response of the body to the infection and patients need to be admitted to intensive care.
Difficin helps remove intestinal damp heat to clear C. diff infections. Difficin also helps nurture the Yin of the intestine and clear the blood stasis in the intestine to help repair intestinal damage. Patients can experience symptom improvement with less diarrhea, decreased stomach upset and cramping and improved appetite in 3 days. Significant improvement can be achieved in 6 weeks. It is recommended to start the formula at full dose during the four weeks followed by 2/3rd dose in the last two weeks. 2/3rd dose of Probiosis, WhiteHead, and Luna are also required to help reduce intestinal inflammation and clear coinfections caused by other types of bacteria and fungus.
For patients with a Candida infection as well, Formula F and Formula G are also required to help clear the fungus coinfection. Herbal ingredients in Formula F have been shown to act as antifungal agents and inhibit the growth of C. albicans as well as prevent yeasthyphal transition.
