Cortigen clears Liver Qi and Spleen Qi Stagnation, dispels pathogenic factors, and relieves suppression. It helps relieve the impact of chronic mental stress, anxiety, and reduce the physical and emotional symptoms.
1. Chronic Stress Related Physical Symptoms Stress triggers the release of stress hormones, such as cortisol and adrenaline and the activation of the sympathetic nervous system. Cortisol is a steroid hormone which increases blood glucose levels and suppresses functions that are unnecessary for a fight-or-flight response including the immune system, food digestion, reproductive activities and growth processes.
Chronic stress causes the body to be nearly always in a state of heightened alertness and puts continued pressure on the body. This can lead to many physical symptoms including irritability fatigue, headaches, difficulty sleeping, poor appetite, indigestion, and/or frequent infections or illnesses. It can also contribute to conditions such as high blood pressure, formation of artery-clogging deposits, and obesity. Overuse of the stress response system due to chronic stress can also cause overreaction to stressors leading to chronic elevated cortisol levels. Elevated cortisol levels lower immune functions causing slowed healing, decreased bone density, increased weight gain and blood pressure, thinning skin and accelerated aging, cold hands and feet, and fatigue.
2. Anxiety or Panic Attack Related Physical Symptoms Chronic stress can cause anxiety disorders and patients can experience spontaneous panic attacks with frequent episodes of intense fear or anxiety. Physical symptoms include pounding or racing heart, sweating, chills, body trembling and shaking, difficulty breathing, tightness in the throat, headache, nausea, cold or numb hand and feet, tension in the neck, chest pain, and weakness or dizziness.
These physical symptoms are due to the increase in epinephrine secretion as well as muscle sympathetic nerve activity during panic attacks. The stress response system in patients with anxiety disorders is less flexible. When the anxiety arouses, it takes much longer to bring the epinephrine up and when the anxiety is gone it takes epinephrine to bring back the epinephrine down to normal. Often before the stress repose system is fully back to normal another spontaneous attack occurs again. Their system is almost locked in the sub-panic mode with persistent baseline chronic anxiety symptoms.
The persistent physical symptoms caused by chronic stress and frequent anxiety attacks is caused by Liver and Spleen Qi Stagnation in TCM. Cortigen disperses Stagnated Liver and Spleen Qi, and relieves Qi Stagnation. It helps recalibrate the HPA axis to curb the hormonal levels related to the stress response such as ACTH and cortisol levels. It also dispels pathogenic factors and relieves depression to help clear the excessive cortisol and stimulating hormones to relieve the suppression of the body’s “house-keeping” activities. It will also help to restore the flexibility of the stress response system to relieve muscle tension to resume blood flow and help the body to repair the damage and relieve the physical symptoms. LC Balancer, Brown, and Xcel are recommended to support the liver and kidneys. Patients can experience improved energy levels, better skin and bone health, increased immunities, and overall wellbeing in 1 week. 2-3 weeks is recommended for significant improvement and sustained results.
